Football Club

Letters for the Football Club will go out sometime in the new academic year (2017/18)

Football Club is run after school on a Friday (3.15 - 4.15pm) by Mr Bond.

The pupils involved in this club have an opportunity to play for St Mary's in a competitive league against other local schools as well as in school games competitions.

This club is available for Year 5 & 6 pupils in the first half of the year.  A Year 3 & 4 club will be available later on in the second half of the year.

5/6 Football League

During the early part of spring, which at times felt like winter, 10 children from the 5/6 football club represented St Mary's in the annual football league at Westfield Junior School.  The event was held over three seperate days, in which Schools from the surrounding area played each other in a league format.

St Mary's were involved in six competitive games, winning 4, drawing 1 and losing just the 1.  The experience brought together a group of children who had never played together, some never playing a game before, and taught them how to work together to be an effective team.  This seasons league brought St Mary's many incredible highs, not to mention giving the coach, Mr Bond, a few more grey hairs, with the league being decided on the very last kick in the final game where we were just pipped to first place.  However finishing runners up is no failure and has shown just how far we have come as a team.  As their coach I am extremely proud of what they have achieved and how well they have represented St Mary's.
