Match v Hinckley Parks
On the 3rd of November the girls football team went to Hinckley Parks Primary school to play what would turn out to be 2 historic matches.
On the 3rd of November we (the girls football team) played our first match of the year. Our rivals for the day were Hinckley Parks Primary school. On the walk to Hinckley Parks we were really excited and sang and joked all the way there, We even made up our own cheerleading routine to show that we were a team. When we got there Mr Pegley (the other teams coach) introduced himself and told us about what was going to happen, he made us feel very welcome. We warmed up and then got ready to play our first game. It was strange because we played 2 games, the first was split into 3 parts and the 2nd was split into 2.
We started the first part of the first game a bit nervously but soon felt fine.
despite chances for both teams the first third against their A side ended 0-0
After a quick break we started the 1st half of the 2nd game against their B side. That is where things got exciting.
About 3 minutes into the game Holly L got the ball and passed it into the box for Maddison to shoot. The goal keeper saved the first shot but Maddison showed great Perserverance to get a 2nd shot and score the first ever goal for the ST Mary's girls football team. Very shortly after we went 2-0 up. Holly crossed the ball in again and it hit Maddison's knee and went in.
We weren't done there and with a minute to go Holly L got her self a goal with a strike from just inside the box. At the end of the first half the score was ST Mary's 3-0 Hinckley Parks B.
We then played the 2nd 3rd of our match against the A team and much like the first third it ended the same way with both teams missing chances as well as Amelia pulling off some fantastic saves in goal.
We then played the 2nd half of our match against the B team. Holly added another 2 goals to her tally to finish the game off and secure our first win and the first ever win for a ST Mary's girls football team!
Final score: ST Mary's 5-0 Hinckley Parks B
We were nearly done for the day but we had one more bit of football to play.
The final 3rd of the game against the A team was fantastic as we began to get on top of the game.
With a couple of minutes to go and the score at 0-0 Holly broke through and hit the ball into the top corner to sent us 1-0 up an give Hinckley Parks very little time to respond. The full time whistle went and the joy on everyones faces was incredible. We had actually won!!
Final score: ST Mary's 1-0 Hinckley Parks A
We sang all the way back feeling really excited with the days results.
Thank you to Mr Tratt for making us a good team.

I am very proud of all the girls who in such a small space of time have not only discovered a love for the game but have also come on fantastically as players and as a whole team. Every one of them played with pride and passion representing our school fantastically.
This is only first step on a long road for the girls team and hopefully the first of many wins.
