Due to the current situation with Coronavirus and many children and families having to self isolate, we have created a leaflet outlining home learning activities which can be used to support children with their learning at home.

HOW WE LEARN...

Personal, social and emotional development (PSED)

In Foundation Stage we develop purposeful relationships with our peers and teachers so that we can share resources, help each other and work together to achieve shared success.

Physical development

In Foundation Stage we develop our physical skills in a variety of different ways, and learn about how to keep ourselves and each other healthy.  We work on developing our gross and fine motor skills through the use of fun hands on practical activities.

Communication,

Language and Literacy (CLL)

In Foundation Stage we develop our communication and language skills by learning to listen carefully, respond to what others say and follow instructions through a variety of activities and contexts.  We have fun acting and role-playing stories.

Literacy (reading and writing)

In Foundation Stage our teachers help us to develop a love of books and stories. We learn to link sounds to letters, read sentences and use a varied and broad vocabulary.  We have fun learning new sounds in phonics and work hard to write sentences with growing independence.

We begin by giving meaning to the marks we make and progress to writing words and sentences in meaningful contexts.

Mathematics

In Foundation Stage we develop our understanding of numbers, shapes and measures. We learn the story of numbers through the use of an exciting, fun interactive programme called Ten Town. As we progress we learn the skills to apply our knowledge to solve problems in real life situations.

Understanding the World

In Foundation Stage we explore the world around us. We focus our learning upon people and communities, different technology and our environment.

Expressive Arts and Design

In Foundation Stage we have fun exploring and using a wide range of media and materials to create our own artwork and designs.  We also use our imagination to express ourselves through art, music, dance and role-play.

PE

Mr Johnson is one of our PE coaches, he teaches the children PE on a Thursday morning. However, as physical development and movement is vital to a child’s development within Foundation Stage the children participate in fun daily movement tasks.  This may include wake and shake activities, yoga, and core strength tasks.

Our Current topic is....

Superheroes

During this half-term the children in Foundation will be learning about superheroes.  We will be exploring a range of superheroes, through books such as 'Supertato' to 'my dads a superhero'.

We will learn about what it's like to be a super hero and look at the specific traits needed to be a superhero.  We will even be having our very own superhero day!

We will be learning to apply our phonic knowledge to write about superheroes and be designing our very own superhero.

Outdoor learning

Outdoor learning plays a vital role in the children's physical, social and emotional development. Here's some of the things we have been doing.

Outdoor Learning

Snow, snow, snow!!

The children were really excited to discover snow on the ground outside. They had great fun playing together and exploring the snow.  It was a great opportunity to learn about different weather types and think about why the snow seemed to melt so quickly!

The children have been keeping their fingers crossed that it will snow again very soon!

Phonics

The children have been working hard with their phonics and are now learning phase 3 sounds.  Included below is a video showing phase 2 and phase 3 sounds.  It would be useful to consolidate this at home with your child.
