Summary of legal requirements and expectations

All maintained schools are required to:

• Meet for at least 380 sessions or 190 days during any school year to educate their pupils
• Operate two sessions on every school day divided by a break in the middle of the school day
• Provide a compulsory week of 32.5 hours

Foundation: 

8.40am-Gates open

8.45am-11.50am-Foundation Morning Session

11.50-1.15pm-Lunch

1.15-3.15pm-Afternoon Session

Key Stage One

8.40am-Gates open

8.45am-Start of Morning Session 

10.30am-10.45am-Key Stage One Break

12.05pm-1.15pm-Lunch

1.15pm-3.15pm-Afternoon Session

Key Stage Two

8.40am-Gates open

8.45am-Start of Morning Session 

10.45am-11.00am-Key Stage Two Break

12.15pm-1.15pm-Lunch

1.15pm-3.15pm-Afternoon Session

Please note: the gates open in the morning at 8.40am and will be closed at 8.50am. If your child arrives after this time they will need to enter school through the front door.
