Welcome to Year 3 and 4. Your child will be in one of three classes-Chanel Class, Gaudi Class or Newton Class. Below you will find lots of information to support your child's learning journey this year and lots of photographs of learning in action.

Skipping workshop with 'Skip2bFit'


We attempted various military style 'Physical Training' drills. Soldiers in World War 2 had to do similar exercises

Planting tomato seeds
As part of Food For Life, we have planted tomato seeds so that we can grow our own tomato plants.
We will regularly check and water them, and will move them to a sunny location when the seeds have germinated so that the leaves can get sunlight to help the plants to grow.

Visit to Hinckley Library
Chanel class, Gaudi class and Newton class have all visited Hinckley Library. As a result, lots of the children now have a library card so that they can enjoy reading a variety of amazing books from Hinckley Library.

We listened to relaxing, classical music to help us focus whilst writing our story based on 'The Flood'.

British Science Week
Online lesson with National Farmers Union, learning about how farms are becoming more sustainable
We used various forensic techniques to solve which suspect stole a diamond from a crime scene
Now Press Play - we experienced how Charles Darwin found evidence to try to prove his theory of evolution
Maths - we enjoyed a Now Press Play experience where we had to solve problems related to recognising fractions, equivalent fractions and fractions of amounts to save passengers on the Titanic

DT - Seasonal Stockings
Years 3 and 4 have had a fantastic few weeks exploring how stockings are made and learning the different types of stitches. The children designed, made and evaluated their own Christmas stocking.

We have been completing missions based on the British explorer Levison Wood
Mission 1 - collecting water from wells and transporting to containers
Mission 2 - moving vital supplies whilst avoiding quick sand in the desert

Mission 3 - building bridges to get supplies across the River Nile
Mission 4 - camels had to lead explorers through a sandstorm, whilst also avoiding quick sand.

In this unit, we have been looking at the different ways computers are connected and the difference between digital and non digital.
