We have made a great start on our new topic "Where Do I Live?"
The children have been exploring the world and looking closely at the United Kingdom. We are trying really hard to name the four countries of the UK and their capital cities - follow the link below to a great website where your child can practise learning these!
Picasso class were the team challenge winners! The children chose a movie afternoon and a non-uniform day as their prize! They chose to watch Monster’s University and loved munching on popcorn 🍿 as they sipped their drinks! Well done, Team Picasso! 🤩🍿🏆🍿🏆🍿🏆

All around the World
Teresa Class have really enjoyed learning about different continents both at home and in school. Before Easter, we learned more about famous places in North America and Africa.
After the Easter Holiday, we also found out more about the fascinating continent of Antarctica. As it doesn’t have a flag, we designed our own! We also wrote our own fact files.

Some of our fantastic story writing from when we re-told the story Papa Piccolo.
We also created a friendship chain with some messages about what we had missed about not being in school during the lockdown. The children wrote some really thoughtful messages about what (and who!) they had really missed! Lots of them had missed school dinners and maths the most!
Picasso class busy researching Continents using iPads, fact sheets and atlases! We enjoyed working together as a team 👍🏻
We love ‘rocking out’ during our virtual music lessons with Rocksteady Music School!

We have different learning areas in our classroom for the children to explore and extend their learning. Here are our book corner, enquiry area, maths area and block play.
British Science Week
This week the children have enjoyed taking part in fun Science activities and investigations.
The children in Teresa Class took part in a Now Press Play adventure where they used their imaginations to explore different Habitats.
Teresa Class also designed our own Robo-bugs! First, we thought about what job the Robo-bug would be used for. For example, exploring, construction or rescue. Then we looked closely at different insects and their strengths to help us to decide which ones to base our Robo-bugs on.
Picasso class enjoyed creating storyboards as a Pre-vis supervisor would during science week!
Hockney class made flitter Jars as part of British Science Week. The children added different materials to water to achieve various effects. The overwhelming favourite material was glitter!
We have started our new topic by reading the book 'The Scarecrows' Wedding' by Julia Donaldson. The children have really enjoyed talking and writing about the different characters.
We are very happy with how the children have settled in and our Terrific Toys topic is now well underway. It would be great if you could speak to your child about the toys you used to play with when you were a child.
Dogger by Shirley Hughes and Traction Man by Mini Grey
To support our topic, the children have really enjoyed reading these books together. We have also done lots of drama work and writing about them.
Welcome back Year 1 and 2!
Please see below photos of our classrooms. You might be able to see that our new topic this term is 'Terrific Toys.'
