Spring Term 2023

Design & Technology

Our most recent DT project has been all about greenhouses. We first explored existing greenhouses and discussed the purpose of them, in particular mini greenhouses. Before we started to make our very own mini greenhouse, we first had to design it. This involved working as a team and investigating with different types of materials to ensure our design met the criteria. We then had great fun using different tools to make our mini greenhouses. It took lots of effort and patience. Take a look at how we progressed!

'What do Hindus believe God is like?'

In RE, we have been exploring the different Hindu deities and what each God symbolises. It was very interesting to see what is included in a puja tray (worship tray) and how Hindus worship God at home. We learnt about Lord Ganesh who has an elephant head and is one of the most popular Hindu deities. Can you identify what each God symbolises?

Safer Internet Day

It was Safer Internet Day on Tuesday the 7th of February and the theme this year is 'Want to Talk About It?'. We developed our understanding of the importance of staying safe online and completed a range of activities to achieve this.

As part of our history topic ‘Anglo-Saxons, Picts and Scots’ , we read the story of Beowulf. We then drew illustrations to make a comic strip of the story.

This term Year 3/4 have been taking inspiration from Pieter Bruegel's painting Hunters in the Snow to create our own versions in the medium of collage.

In science Year 3/4 have been exploring sound. How it is created, how it travels through different mediums and how we can change and measure sound.

This term we have really enjoyed creating projects on 'Scratch' as a part of our 'Sequencing sounds' unit. Take a look at a few of our final projects and don't forget to turn up the volume! smiley
